I coach parents to assist in their children’s literacy development. I believe that with a bit of support, parents can become more actively involved in, better prepared to, and more effective at supporting young readers. I will show you engaging, research-based ways to improve your child’s reading – without commercial workbooks or costly tutoring. I empower you to support your children – from toddler to preteen - as they develop into proficient readers.
It can be difficult to navigate the world of public education, interpreting test scores, and the referral process. I can serve as your advocate - attending school-based meetings with you, being by your side in helping to understand the process, and knowing your child's rights and needs. If you've been given school reports or private evaluations, I can help you make sense of the data.
Your Child as a Reader
My goal is to help your child discover the joy of reading for pleasure. I aim is to improve the reading culture of your home and to help your child discover his/her identity as a reader. I match books to readers, showcase resources for even the most reluctant readers, and motivate readers by access, choice, and relevance.
