Family Book Club

get the whole family reading with my monthly book club!

Each month, I'll choose two books: one oriented towards younger readers (ages 4-8) and another oriented towards older readers (ages 8 +). As much as possible, I try to tie the books together so that families with multiple children can connect to the topic or theme. Commit to reading that text together as I post conversation questions and resources on our Facebook page. Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Choose a reading approach that works for your family. Older siblings can read aloud to younger ones, early readers can listen to the book on CD, parents can download the book on Audible and listen as they commute.

  • Set a date on your family calendar for your book club. Make it a special treat - in my house, we dress up, make special food treats, and toast our reading with sparkling apple cider.

  • Throughout the month, check in on your family's progress. Let your kids see you reading the book, and talk about your own reading.

  • Share your photos and conversations on our Facebook page! Email me with recommended titles for future months.

  • Have fun and be flexible! This is meant to engage readers, not to add to your insurmountable To Do list!
